A little girl wearing overalls and had her light brown hair tied in pig-tailed braids was humming a song as she hopped across the stones of her front garden. She was wearing too big for her feet sized high-top red converse shoes. Whenever she saw a ladybug, she would jump over it and land on the next stone like she was playing a game with herself.
“One, two, buckle my shoe,” She sang as she jumped. She landed on a stone and then jumped again.
“three, four, shut the door.” She stopped paying attention and jumped out of the garden and kept jumping until she reached the nearby woods.
“Five, six, picking up sticks.” She picked up a stick and began to twirl.
“Seven, eight…”
“We were too late… again damn it!” A detective shouted and punched a nearby tree. A little girl was hanging from a different tree, a stream of blood coming from her mouth. One side of her light brown hair was braided, while the other side was down and wavy. She was wearing overalls, only one of the buttons was buttoned and she was wearing one overly large red high top converse shoe.
The detective’s partner surveyed the surrounding area and then asked his partner “do you think it was him?”
“Well,” the angry detective said as he calmed down, “it’s the same M.O. Alternating sides of something missing or changed. I’d say it’s pretty safe to say it was him, or her.”
“you think a woman could do this?” The detective’s partner scoffed.
“It could really be either gender. There’s no finger-prints, no DNA, no witnesses, no evidence of any sort except the same M.O. and the body of a child. Do I think a woman did this, no. but the evidence can’t rule out anybody.” The significantly calmed detective chuckled.
“That’s true…” his partner said as he put his fingers against his chin in a contemplative manner.
“Well, let’s go tell the captain that the child song killer has struck again.” the first detective said and his partner nodded. They nodded their heads to the C.S.I.s as they rushed in, desperate to see if they could find any amount of evidence.
“Why is he called the child song killer anyways?” The detective’s partner asked.
“Elementary, My dear Watson,” the first detective quoted as they hopped into his truck, then he continued, “all the people that saw the victims before their unfortunate and very premature ends say that the murdered children were singing childrens songs before they lost sight of the child. For example, the first victim was reportedly singing I’m a little teacup.”
“Poor children… I wonder how long this will continue…” the partner sighed.
“until we catch the perp.” The first detective said, his voice turning cold as they drove off towards the police station.
